Robert Kiyosaki in his book Rich Kid Smart Kid says a lot about the different types of intelligence. And how the school system supports only one type of them. Everybody’s intelligence is on same level, but in different areas. Every person learns easiest in a manner determined by his preferable type of intelligence. And responsibility of parents and teachers is to help a child determine which way to learn is best for him or her. But first, of course also parents and kids should determine for themselves which type of intelligence is developed most. On which area you are most intelligent? Here are some suggestions that will help you find it out:
There are several types of intelligences (by Howard Gardner)
- Verbal-linguistic: the ability of writing and reading; our education system prefers it, journalists, writers, lawyers and teachers have this kind of intelligence most developed.
- Numerical: refers to the processing of data measured by the numbers, specific to mathematics, physics, engineers
- Spatial: creative people have developed that kind (artists, architects …)
- Exercise: it is shown at athletes, dancers, craftsmen, these people learn easiest, if they do something
- Emotional: according to opinion of some top experts this is most important intelligence; when we are afraid or angry, we don’t have control about what we speak to ourselves, because of fear and not because of ignorance
- Interpersonal: the ability of easy communication, speakers, singers, actors, salesmen have that kind of intelligence highly developed
- Environmental: the relationship of person to things around him – gardeners, foresters, veterinarians …
- Financial: ability to deal with money
Later, there was determined more than 30 other types of intelligences
It is not important how many things you know and have learned. Only thing it is really important today is how fast you can learn, how good you are at exploiting power of your feelings and how you can deal with other people. And to be good on these areas you need to know how you can learn best and what kind of intelligence you have developed highest.
